Are school district social media posts public records?
Public school districts are government bodies, and content created or received in the course of official business, including on social media, may fall under your state’s public records law. Depending on state law, that may include parent comments on official pages when they relate to district business, including comments later deleted.
How does FERPA interact with social media?
FERPA protects personally identifiable information from education records; not every social post or comment is itself an education record.
